How do you get a copy of your accident report in SC?

The answer may depend on whether your accident was in city limits or the county – if SC highway patrol responded to your accident, you can get a copy of the accident report from the SCDMV.

When the accident happened within city limits, you may be able to get a copy of your accident report from the municipal police department, or you may be required to request the report from the SCDMV instead. Below, we will provide some basic information on how to get your collision report/ crash report from:

  • SCDMV,
  • City of Myrtle Beach Police Department,
  • City of Conway Police Department, and
  • City of North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety.

How to Get a Copy of Your SC Accident Report

If you have been involved in a car wreck in SC, you must get a copy of your collision report – you can do this on your own, or your personal injury attorney can get a copy of the accident report for you.

Accident Reports from the SCDMV/ Highway Patrol

SCDMV collision reports cost $6, and you can order them online, in person, or by mail.

Online collision reports: You can get a copy of your SCDMV collision report online, in person at a DMV office, or by mail. You can also order a collision report on the SCDMV’s website.

If the collision report has not been added to your official driving record yet, you can buy an “unofficial” report, but you will need to pay again to get an “official” report once it has been added to your record.

In-person: You can buy a copy of your collision report at any SCDMV office in person – bring them a Request for Collision Report (SCDMV Form FR-50), or you can fill out the form when you arrive at the DMV office.

By mail: You can also mail two copies of the Form FR-50 and a check or money order for $6 to the SCDMV at:

Accident Reports in Conway, SC

There is no easy online portal to order your accident report from the City of Conway Police Department, but you can still request a report online, by phone, in person, or by mail. Accident reports are free if you were a party to the accident, and they cost $5 for anyone who was not involved (attorneys and insurance companies, for example).
